"Everybody wants to move on from COVID, but with no accountability," says Alex Van Herk whose sentencing got delayed while his co-accused were given prison sentences for their role in the Coutts blockade during the "freedom convoy" in 2022.

An Alberta judge described the events in Coutts, Alberta, as an attack on the rule of law and sentenced former Fort Macleod town councillor Marco Van Huigenbos to 4 months in prison. Gerhard Janzen was sentenced to 3 months, to be served under a Conditional Sentence Order.
