I asked His Worship, Mayor Sohi, whether he would still be in an Indian jail cell if it weren’t for the Canadian government's intervention to secure his release, despite him not being a Canadian citizen at the time. Once again, His Worship met my questions with silence.
Amarjeet Sohi was once accused by the Indian government of being a Khalistani terrorist.
He was charged and jailed for about two years.
Sohi maintains that he was a political prisoner. Despite not being a Canadian citizen at the time, the Mulroney government, CSIS, and Edmonton MP David Kilgour intervened to help secure his release and bring him to Canada.
This is why I would like to know if he could have been released from jail without the intervention of the Canadian government.
I asked if he owns land in India with his brother Harkesh Sohi because, in his federal conflict of interest disclosure while serving as Infrastructure Minister, he declared that he owns land with two other individuals in Banbhaura, Punjab, India.
Who are these two individuals? Are they his brothers?
Is one of them Harkesh Sohi, the owner and director of Whiterock Ventures, a company that received upwards of millions of dollars in city contracts while Amarjeet Sohi was a city councillor in Edmonton and later the Infrastructure Minister of Canada?
Amarjeet Sohi is suing me for doing honest public interest journalism. He is suing the whistleblower who exposed him as well.
I stand by my reports.

Good journalism must not be silenced.
