In a recent address at the Turkish Islamic Centre in Calgary, United Conservative Party of Alberta candidate and current Justice Minister, Tyler Shandro, expressed his desire to work with the National Council of Canadian Muslims to address Islamophobia in Alberta, should his party be elected in the upcoming provincial election.
In his speech, Shandro highlighted initiatives his party has been focusing on, including educational choice and halal financing.
Earlier today, Premier Danielle Smith penned an open letter to the Muslim community.
In her letter, she pledged to uphold religious freedom, combat racism and Islamophobia, and support Islamic schools and halal financing.
However, she did not specifically mention any potential commitments to collaborate with The National Council of Canadian Muslims.
